Queensland Beach Provincial Park boast of its fine white sand on the narrow beach. The sand contains feldspar crystals and sandy granite that extends a few hundred meters from the beach.

The post-secondary students of the region have a strong influence in the local cultural scene of the famous Halifax Regional Municipality, and their influence has caused its popularity as a main cultural centre within the Atlantic provinces. The region has numerous theatres, like The Music Room, The Neptune Theatre, and the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. The city of Halifax is also a popular place for cultural attractions, like the Symphony Nova Scotia, Khyber ICA, the Neptune Theatre, and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The whole area is popular for its music and nightlife scene, mostly within the central urban core.

The city is considered the central center for various cultural, government and banking activities in the Maritime area. Recent developments have put a spotlight on its booming real estate. The other active businesses of the region are natural gas extraction, forestry, mining, fishing and agriculture.
